On Youth Unemployment: Time for Action, Not Promises

Every day, I meet young people from across Kerala—bright, educated, and eager to contribute. And every day, I see the frustration in their eyes. Degrees in hand, skills acquired, yet opportunities remain elusive.

Let me be direct: the current system has failed our youth. We have created an education system that produces graduates but not job-ready professionals. We have built an economy that imports talent while exporting our own children to the Gulf and beyond.

But I am not here to offer empty sympathy. I am here to offer a path forward. Through initiatives like Wayvida and our skill development programs, we are working to bridge the gap between education and employment. We are partnering with industries to understand what skills they need and training our youth accordingly.

The solution is not more government jobs—though those are important. The solution is creating an ecosystem where entrepreneurship thrives, where startups can grow, where our youth can become job creators rather than just job seekers. This requires policy changes, infrastructure investment, and above all, a change in mindset.

To every young person reading this: your future is not written by politicians or bureaucrats. It is written by you. Take charge. Skill up. Connect. Build. And know that there are those of us working tirelessly to create the opportunities you deserve.
